Every week I get questions on my private email (people generally too scared to comment on the blog) regarding the cultural phenomenon known as Video Wednesday. I shall address them here:
1. Are you worried about losing credibility with the congregation at PAC because of Video Wednesday?
Yes.
2. How much time does your average Video Wednesday take?
What you see is basically the time it takes. We pride ourselves in the rawness of being 1 take wonders. Implied in this question is concern about wise use of PAC dollars since Video Wednesday appears Wed. afternoon when I am working. Scott and I resent the implication! Rest assured, there is no mismanagement of resources - money, time or otherwise - except when we are particularly pleased with a Video Wed. and light up some celebratory cigars with $100 bills taken from the Compassion Portage Fund.
3. Who is your target audience?
Tamara.
4. What is your favorite Video Wednesday and why?
I really like the one where I liberated a mexican village. Because I would really like to liberate a Mexican village someday.
5. What is your least favorite Video Wednesday and why?
Scott and I did one that never got posted. It was he and I singing "Wind Beneath My Wings". It was unoriginal and embarrassing.
6. What has been the most popular Video Wednesday?
This one shot around the web like greased lightning.
Thank you for your interest and hopefully that clears up some confusion regarding Video Wednesday.

Always sympathetic to the plight of "the other", Scot and I work to recreate a scene designed to engender empathy from those of us who are established in our countries to those who are seeking a better life in Canada.
The scene is set at Lester Pearson International Airport in Toronto.
I have been told I will be met by Poochy.
If we had time and ability, we would have edited out our guffaws at the end as I find those embarassing.

Again and again with Video Wednesday we attempt to hold together two equal desires. The first desire is to create an intimate connection with the viewer. The second desire is to maintain the high moral standards we personally hold. On the surface they seem incompatible. Indeed our dinner, movie, stay the night culture would have us unwittingly believe intimacy can be hurried, and voyeuristic consumption can provide the foundation for relational bliss. We are led to believe that the more we show of ourselves and the sooner we show it the better our chances are for legitimate connection.
However, dig a little deeper and you can see that it is the gradual revealing of a person; a scenario where vulnerability is congruent with commitment that ultimately leads to the connections our heart longs for. Beauty is in restraint. The best musicians know its more about the notes you don't play.
In this piece, we show Scot in a vulnerable moment. We walk right up to the threshold of where invitation to intimacy dangerously leans towards voyeurism.
And then we stop. Some things are best left for the honeymoon.

This particular piece is a tribute to childhood influence Uncle Harold. Yes kids, don't let his youthful appearance fool you, Uncle Harold was around even when I was a child. In fact, I remember the first time I heard the "a bungelow" joke. It was funny even before I understood it. Uncle Harold was the first exposure I had to "competitive evangelism" where if you brought your friends you won chips. If you managed to proselytyze them you won a trip to Bahamas.
Thanks Uncle Harold.

So far only Lydia has entered our win a date with Scott contest by commenting on his video. Although I suppose by that criteria Paul Stanley has also entered the contest. One more day to either enter the contest yourself our mention it to someone who might enjoy spending time with Portage's most eligible bachelor.

In this piece Scott and I riff on physical and spiritual tensions, occasionally flirting with Wittgensteinian language games. Scott's heart cry for more mass should leave even the most jaded cynic wondering about their own heart's desire.

Particularly pleased with this piece. It achieves much while requiring very little.
Especially pleased with the development of Scott. It has been an intense week for the little gaffer and he is rising to the challenge.
Together we present...
